How to write the letter K
Capital K: Big line down, then a little slant in to the middle of it and a little slant back out — both touching the same middle point.
Lowercase k: Same shape with a taller starting line.
Watch for: The two slants drifting apart — they should meet the big line at one point, like a kick.
Tips for teaching the letter K
Say the letter name and its sound before tracing ("K says k as in kite"). Have your child trace the gray letters with a finger first, then a crayon or thick pencil — fine-motor control comes before pencil grip. One page a day beats five pages once a week, and always end on a success.
