How to write the letter S
Capital S: Start like a C at the top, curve left, then swing back the other way — two curves stacked into a snake.
Lowercase s: The same snake at half size.
Watch for: The most commonly reversed letter in the alphabet — a green dot at the starting point works wonders.
Tips for teaching the letter S
Say the letter name and its sound before tracing ("S says s as in sun"). Have your child trace the gray letters with a finger first, then a crayon or thick pencil — fine-motor control comes before pencil grip. One page a day beats five pages once a week, and always end on a success.
